Again, Presidency Dismisses Buhari’s Death Rumour

THE Presidency was once again on Sunday night forced to deny swirling rumours of President Muhammadu Buhari’s demise.

The president left Abuja for London, on Sunday May 6, 2017, to continue with his consultations with his doctors over his ailing health.

But on Sunday, the social media was awash of rumours of his death during his medical treatment.
The Presidency has consequently moved quickly to deny it as it has done on several occasions in the past when Buhari was in London on medical vacation.

Writing on his twitter handle @GarShehu, Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, said nothing unpleasant had happened to the president.
He advised Nigerians to ignore the baseless rumours which according to him were being spread by vested interest to cause panic.

He said: “Baseless rumors are trending again that an unpleasant thing has happened to our beloved President, Muhammadu Buhari.

“If you have received this information on WhatsApp or Facebook, disregard it bcos (because) it is plain lies spread by vested interests to create panic.”
